At the end of the day, the average bookshelf depth is just a number. But it’s a number that respects your books, your time, and your sanity. You don’t want to fight your furniture every time you read.
So next time you see a shelf that makes you smile, measure it. Chances are, it’s 12 glorious inches. And if it’s not? You’ll know exactly what you’re getting into.
Now go rearrange your bookshelf. You know you want to. And maybe grab a tape measure first—your future, un-frustrated self will thank you.
