I microwaved one while writing this article. For science. It came out hot, the icing melted into a sad puddle on my plate, and I ate it in three bites while judging myself in the reflective surface of my microwave door. The filling was just as hot and sweet, yes. But the soul was missing.
So here’s what I’ll leave you with: life is short. If you want a proper, crispy, joyful Toaster Strudel, wait the extra two minutes for the toaster. But if life has you cornered, and a microwave is all you have, don’t let anybody shame you. Just know that you’re eating a ghost of what could have been. And maybe, just maybe, keep a backup bag of microwave popcorn for when the Strudel lets you down.
