Think about it. Timber is one of the oldest materials on Earth, yet it’s still the star of the show. Timber has this weird ability to feel both ancient and trendy at the same time—like a vinyl record that sounds better than a digital file.
At Covers, they don’t just stack wood; they curate it. You’ll find everything from rough-sawn planks that look like they belong in a medieval barn to smooth, sleek panels that could star in a minimalist Instagram post. Who knew a board could have so much personality?
And here’s the kicker: timber is forgiving. If you mess up a cut? You sand it down. If your shelf leans to the left? Call it “rustic charm.” No other building material gives you that kind of grace.
The builders’ secret sauce
Now, let’s talk about the “Builders Merchants” part of the name. It sounds official, but really it just means they have everything you didn’t know you needed. Cement, insulation, plumbing bits, and those weird plastic widgets that only a plumber would name.
What’s cool is that this place isn’t just for pros with hard hats. It’s for you—the person who watched one YouTube video and decided to retile the bathroom. No judgment here. The staff are like friendly wizards who actually remember where the silicone sealant lives.
Ever tried to ask for “the thing that holds the pipe to the wall” at a big-box store? You get a blank stare. Here, they’ll nod, say “Ah, you mean a pipe clip,” and hand you one before you finish your sentence. That’s the kind of energy that makes you feel like a real builder.
