Most hams you buy are already cooked. Seriously. They've been smoked, cured, or baked before they ever hit the grocery store.
That shiny spiral-cut beauty? Fully cooked. You're just reheating it.
But here’s the kicker: the label won't always scream it. You have to play detective.
The Label Is Your Best Friend (Or Frenemy)
Look for the big, bold words on the package. If it says “cook before eating,” then yes, you must cook it.
If it says “fully cooked” or “ready-to-eat,” you can eat it cold. Straight from the fridge. Like a glorious caveperson.
But even then, most people heat it anyway. Because cold ham is sad ham.
