You know the covered wagon that rolls across the field? That’s the Sooner Schooner. But the original plan? Someone suggested using an actual sailboat on a trailer. I’m not joking. They thought it would look “cool.”

Thankfully, someone pointed out that sailing on grass doesn’t work, so they went with the wagon. Still, can you imagine a pirate ship in the middle of a football game? Argh, Boomer Sooner.

The Squirrel That Became a Legend

Remember that granola bar thief? Well, OU has a whole mythology around its squirrels. There’s even a Twitter account called “@OUSquirrelWatch” that tracks their shenanigans. One particular squirrel, nicknamed “Sir Nuts-A-Lot,” was once spotted stealing a slice of pizza from a freshman’s hand.

The pizza was pepperoni. The squirrel ate it. Victory for the rodents.
