Take a drop of H₂O₂ on a potato slice. It will fizz like crazy. The potato has catalase enzyme, just like your blood. It’s a slow-motion explosion of oxygen bubbles.
Try it on a piece of raw meat next. Same thing. It’s like a miniature volcano for your dinner.

This is why you can’t store it forever. Over time, H₂O₂ breaks down into water and oxygen right in the bottle. That brown bottle is designed to block light, which speeds up the breakdown. Clever, right?
What about the pH of the stuff you buy?
Most drugstore peroxide is a 3% solution. That’s a pH around 4.5 to 5.5. It’s acidic enough to make your tongue cringe.
Don’t taste it. Seriously. It will bubble in your mouth and taste like metal and sadness.
But if you’re a science nerd, you can test it with pH strips. The strip will turn a pale orange or yellow. That’s your acid confirmation.
