If you’ve already gone gluten-free because you felt better, congrats on feeling good! But if you want a true diagnosis, you might need to do a “gluten challenge.” That means eating gluten again for a few weeks before the test. It can be miserable, I won’t sugarcoat it.
But it’s the only way to get a definitive answer. Doctors recommend at least three grams of gluten per day (that’s about two slices of bread). Keep a support system—a friend who brings you ginger tea, or a good podcast to distract you during the bloaty hours.
