Take your disposable razor and soak it in hot (not boiling) water for about two minutes. This softens the plastic and loosens any dried-on shaving cream or glue. Think of it as a spa day for your razor, right before you dismantle it. The heat makes the plastic less brittle, so it won’t shatter when you apply pressure.
Do not use boiling water. You want to soften the plastic, not turn it into abstract art. Also, keep your fingers away from the blade end, because even dull razor blades have a personal vendetta against fingertips.
