Look at the front of your meter. See all those numbers? That’s the register. It’s the display that shows your total usage. On old meters, it’s a set of spinning dials that look like tiny clocks. You read them from left to right. On digital meters, it’s just an LCD screen. Much easier on the eyes.
How Does A Digital Water Meter Work
What’s really cute is the little red triangle or spinning star on the face. It’s called a low-flow indicator. Even a tiny trickle of water makes it spin. Water companies love these. They use them to spot leaks from their end, too.
Fun fact: The meter measures in cubic metres. One cubic metre equals about 220 gallons. That’s a lot of tea. Or about eight loads of laundry. Makes you wonder, doesn’t it?
