The golden rule for UK cinema-goers is this: see it in the first two weeks, or accept you might never see it on a big screen. Treat every film like a free food sample at a supermarket—you grab it because if you hesitate, it’s gone and you’ll regret it for the rest of the day.
Use the apps like Empire Cinemas or Odeon to set alerts. Or, do what my friend Dave does: once a month, he picks a random film playing that night and goes. He’s seen some absolute rubbish and some absolute gems. He calls it “Cinema Roulette.” He also never misses a film.
Basically, in the UK, if you want to see a film on the big screen, you’ve got to be a bit like a cat spotting a laser dot. Move fast, don’t overthink it, and accept that sometimes you’ll miss it. But when you catch it? Pure magic. And very overpriced popcorn.
