He studied at Cambridge University, which is basically the X-Men Academy for British comedy. He joined the famous Footlights club, where he met a bunch of future stars.
Then came the 1980s, and bam—Alas Smith and Jones happened. Teaming up with Mel Smith, he became one half of one of the UK’s most beloved comedy duos.

Right, you’re probably scrolling through Google Images right now thinking, “He doesn’t look a day over 55!” And you’d be partly right.
Griff has that impish, twinkling-eyed thing going on. It’s like he’s found the secret to ageing gracefully: keep laughing, keep working, and never, ever stop wearing a tweed jacket.
He’s also famously active. He sails, he walks, he’s always off on some travel show, hiking through a Scottish bog or trying to find a rare bird. That fresh air must be doing something right.
