Grab a small pot with drainage holes and fill it with a gritty, sandy soil mix. Pines hate wet feet, so think “mountain soil,” not swamp. Push the seed just under the surface—about as deep as the seed is long. Cover it lightly.
Water it gently, then place the pot in a bright spot but out of direct, scorching sun. A windowsill that gets morning light is perfect. Now, the hard part: waiting. It might take two weeks, or even a month, before you see a green loop poke through the dirt.
