Go to the beach. The sun is a natural bleach machine. Ultraviolet rays literally zap color molecules into oblivion. Combine that with salt water, and you get a double whammy of fading.
Don’t live near the ocean? Fake it. Mix a tablespoon of salt with your shampoo. Scrub it in and bask in the sun. Your hair will fade faster than a cheap tattoo in a swimming pool.
Swimming pools themselves are chlorine bombs. A few laps in a pool can lighten your color by two shades. Just be ready for that classic green tint if you have blonde hair. We didn’t say it would be pretty.
The Baking Soda Blast
Baking soda is a mild abrasive. It scrubs away color like it’s scrubbing a burnt pan. Make a paste with water and massage it into damp hair. Let it sit for 10 minutes.
Rinse thoroughly. Your hair will feel rough, like steel wool. But that rough texture is color-free territory. Follow up with a deep conditioner. You deserve a hug for your sad, fading strands.
