When you’re ready, place the envelope in your printer’s manual feed tray. Most printers want the flap facing up or down, depending on the model. Check your printer’s little diagram near the tray—it’s usually a tiny graphic of a paper with a folded corner. If you can’t find it, just Google your printer model plus “envelope loading.” We’ve all been there.
How to Print on an Envelope Using Google Docs
Click “Print” in Google Docs, and in the print settings, make sure you select the correct paper size (your envelope size). Also, look for an option that says “Print on both sides”—turn that OFF. You only want ink on one side, unless you enjoy sending mysterious double-sided love letters. Then, hit the big blue button and watch your printer do its little dance.
When Things Go Wrong (And They Will)
Sometimes the envelope jams, and the address comes out looking like a drunk spider crawled across the paper. Don’t panic. Gently remove the jammed envelope, check that you’re not using a wrinkled envelope (your printer hates wrinkles more than you do), and try again. I once printed an envelope for a bill on my third attempt, and when it came out perfect, I literally cheered.
Remember: every home office hero has a stack of failed prints somewhere. It’s a rite of passage.
