Morning is magic. Test your urine first thing after you wake up, before you drink anything or pee again. That gold cup? Collect a small sample in a clean container—or just dip the strip mid-stream if you’re brave. Wait two to three seconds, then shake off the excess.
PH Scale | UK Science Technician Community
Hold the strip still for 15 seconds. Seriously, don’t wave it around like a magic wand. Compare the color to the chart on the bottle. Ideally, you want a reading between 6.5 and 7.5. Anything lower than 6.0 (yellow) means you’re acidic; above 8.0 (dark blue) means you’re riding the alkaline wave a little too high.
But Wait—There’s a Catch (Isn’t There Always?)
One test doesn’t tell you the full story. Your pH fluctuates based on what you ate, how stressed you are, and whether you just ran a marathon. So don’t freak out if you hit 5.5 after a pizza-and-wine night. That’s just your body saying, “Hey, I’m working hard here!”
Test over three to five mornings in a row. Then average the numbers. If you consistently drop below 6.0, your body might be struggling to buffer acids. That’s when you start eyeing your diet—or call your doc if you feel like garbage.
