First, spread the rice out on a plate in a thin, even layer. Don’t pile it high in a bowl. Second, put a damp paper towel over the top. This traps moisture so the rice doesn’t dry out, but it also prevents it from turning into a puddle.
Heat it in 30-second bursts, stirring in between. Stop the second it’s hot. If you go too long, you’ll get that awful, rubbery texture. It’s not as perfect as the skillet, but it’s a solid Plan B. Think of it as the friend who shows up to help you move—not the hero, but still appreciated.
