British Eid is unique. You’ll see men in thobes stepping off the Tube next to women in colourful abayas. The parks fill with families laying out rugs and sharing biryani alongside fish and chips. It’s a beautiful fusion.
Many non-Muslim colleagues now actively ask, “Is it Eid today?” because they want to offer greetings and share in the joy. That curiosity is a gift.
Fun little fact: The UK’s first official Eid in the Square event in London’s Trafalgar Square started in 2006 and now draws over 25,000 people. You can check if it’s happening today by a quick local news search.

The Tech-Savvy Eid
Don’t forget your phone’s widgets. Set a dedicated Eid countdown on your home screen. Apps like HalalTrip or Eid Mubarak can alert you to local prayer times and community events.
Important: Turn off your “Do Not Disturb” mode for a few hours. Your friends might be sending you the confirmation you’ve been waiting for.
Also, check your bank’s opening hours. If you plan to give Zakat al-Fitr (charity), today might be your last chance to transfer it before the holiday prayers.
