I’m not going to lie. Missing a post office run on Good Friday feels like a minor tragedy. You’ll stand outside the locked doors, press your face to the glass, and whisper, “Why? Why on this holiest of days?” Dramatic. But you’ll survive.
Post Office opening times for Good Friday, Easter Sunday and Monday
The truth is, most of us don’t actually need the post office on Good Friday. We just panic. We think, “What if I need to send a last-minute tax form? What if a dinosaur attacks and I need a priority box?” Newsflash: dinosaurs respect holidays too. They’re polite like that.
The One Weird Exception
Did you know that in some states, Good Friday isn’t even a state holiday? It’s true. Texas, for example, treats it like a regular day for state workers. But the post office is federal. So you’re still locked out. It’s a beautiful mess of jurisdiction. Thanks, government.
Also, if you live in a town where the post office shares a building with something else—a grocery store, a dry cleaner—check that. Sometimes the retail part is open even if the postal bit isn’t. It’s like finding a french fry at the bottom of a bag. Unexpected. Delightful. Rare.
