Here’s where it gets tricky, like trying to fold a fitted sheet. The USPS doesn’t deliver, but Amazon often does their own deliveries. So you might see a random van roll up and drop off a box of cat litter while your actual mail sits in a bin 40 miles away. It’s chaotic. It’s like your favorite diner is closed, but the hot dog stand next door is thriving.
FedEx and UPS are also a mixed bag. Some businesses give them Good Friday off, some don’t. You basically have to check your tracking like a weather report. If it says “No delivery,” you just sit on your porch and sigh dramatically until a squirrel comes by to judge you.

The Survival Guide for a Mail-Free Friday
So, how do you cope? First, accept reality. Get it into your head that the flag on your mailbox is just a decoration today. Second, go outside. I know, it’s terrifying, but the world exists beyond the crack in the door where your mail slot lives. You might even see a real human hand delivering something—probably a takeout menu you didn’t ask for, but still.
Also, stock up on patience. Monday will be an absolute beast. Your mail carrier will show up with a rubber band the size of a small tire, holding together bills, coupons for dog food you don’t own, and that spatula. They will look tired. You will look tired. You’ll share a moment of mutual understanding: Good Friday was a lie, but Monday’s delivery is a redemption story.
In the end, remember this: Good Friday is a day for reflection, family, and avoiding the mailbox. It’s a day to let go of the need for instant gratification. Because while you can’t get your mail, you can stand by your window, pretend you hear the truck, and then laugh at yourself when you realize it’s just a lawnmower. That’s the spirit of the holiday.
