Let’s imagine the conversation Andrew had with his staff. “It’s not you, it’s the budget.” That’s got to be awkward. It’s like breaking up with someone because you have too many houseplants. The plants don’t care, but the person does.
King Charles Stripped Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor off His Last Title
One staff member might have been the one who kept the silverware from tarnishing. Another might have been the expert in napkin-folding. You don’t just let that go without a pang. But necessity is a cold shower—it wakes you up, and you’re not thrilled about it.
What will he do himself now?
The big question is: who will do the things the staff used to do? Will Andrew start making his own bed? That’s a real shock for someone used to a crisp, military corner every morning. I imagine him standing there, holding a fitted sheet, and muttering, “How does this even work?”
Or consider the gardening. He might have to water his own plants now. That’s a slippery slope—one day you’re watering a fern, the next you’re arguing with a squirrel about who owns the bird feeder. That squirrel will not respect your title.
