The Packers aren’t trying to run the ball 40 times a game like the old days. They’re trying to be unpredictable. With a young quarterback like Jordan Love, having a reliable ground game is like giving a new driver a car with training wheels—except the training wheels are made of All-Pro talent.
Let’s be real for a second: the offensive line is a huge part of this. Without them, Jones and Dillon are just dudes running into walls. But this line? It’s veteran and nasty. Players like Elgton Jenkins and Zach Tom are the unsung heroes who open the doors.
Ranking the top 10 Green Bay Packers running backs of all time
Imagine being a linebacker. You see Jones line up in the backfield, then you see Dillon motion over. Are you going to play pass or run? You’re basically playing a guessing game, and the house always wins.
A fun comparison for your brain
This running back room is like a garage full of tools. Jones is the precision screwdriver, Dillon is the sledgehammer, and the young guys are those weird Swiss Army knives you bought on a whim. You might not use all of them every day, but when you need them, they save the day.
And here’s the coolest part: nobody knows who will emerge. Year after year, the Packers seem to pull a random running back out of thin air who becomes a fan favorite. Remember James Starks? Ryan Grant? It’s a tradition.
So, is this the best running back group in the NFL? Probably not. But is it the most interesting? Absolutely. It’s a mix of proven stars, hungry rookies, and a system that loves to keep you guessing.
Final thought: next time you watch a Packers game, don’t just watch the quarterback. Watch the guys in the backfield. Watch how Jones glides through a hole, how Dillon punishes a safety, and how the young bucks try to steal a snap. Because in 2026, this is a story still being written—and it might be the best story nobody talks about.
