First, a brutal truth: Easter Sunday is not a normal Sunday. It’s a law unto itself. Most Tesco Express stores will be open, but with heavily reduced hours.
You can kiss your 11am-to-5pm standard Sunday goodbye. Instead, expect a window that might be 10am to 4pm. Or worse, 11am to 3pm. It’s a lottery of hope and disappointment.
Why the weird hours? It’s the trading law tango. Big stores over 280 sqm are forced to close on Easter Sunday. But Express stores? They are the legal loophole heroes of the high street.
The Great Postcode Lottery
Here’s the fun, infuriating part: location is everything. A Tesco Express in a bustling city centre might have longer hours. One in a sleepy suburb could be locked up tighter than a chocolate egg.
One store might open at 8am for your desperate early-morning hash brown run. Another won’t unlock its doors until noon. It’s not a conspiracy. It’s just corporate chaos in action.
Your best bet? Don’t trust your memory. Check the store locator online. It’s the only way to avoid a gut-wrenching walk of shame back to your empty kitchen.
