The Canary Islands run on Western European Time (WET) in winter, and Western European Summer Time (WEST) in summer. The UK does the same. So, for most of the year, we’re twins. No gap. Zero. Zilch. Nada.
This means you can ring your Gran in Tenerife at 3 PM your time and she’s having her siesta at exactly 3 PM her time. It’s a beautiful, boring, and perfectly convenient arrangement. It’s the time zone equivalent of finding a parking spot right outside the shop.
But then… the clocks change. And the universe giggles. The UK falls back in October, and the Canary Islands also fall back. Still no difference. It’s almost suspiciously simple, right? Don’t get too comfortable.
