Well, the pressure at the Challenger Deep is extreme, reaching over 1,000 times the pressure at sea level. It's also incredibly cold, with temperatures near freezing. And yet, despite these harsh conditions, there's still life down there, in the form of quirky creatures like giant tube worms and deep-sea fish with glowing eyes!
One of the quirkiest things about the Challenger Deep is that it's still largely unexplored. In fact, only a handful of people have ever visited the bottom of the trench, and they had to use special submersibles to survive the pressure. The first person to reach the bottom was Jacques Piccard, a Swiss engineer, who made the journey in 1960.
