Walmart? Open. Target? Mostly open. But don’t assume. Some locations shut down early, like they’re scared of a ghost of Easter bunnies. The trick is checking your local store’s hours on Google Maps before you drive across town. I’ve learned this the hard way—standing in a parking lot, watching a locked door reflect my own foolish hope.
Home Depot and Lowe’s? Typically closed. Yes, the same stores that let you buy a bandsaw at 9 PM on Saturday will lock their gates on Good Friday. It’s intentional—like a quiet protest against your urge to renovate a bathroom. Go contemplate your unfinished deck instead.
Costco and Sam’s Club? Firmly closed. They treat Good Friday like a religious experience tied to a pallet of paper towels. Don’t even bother trying the gas station—that pump will be as dry as a Communion wafer.
