Some pressure treated wood now comes “kiln-dried after treatment” (KDAT). This stuff is drier from the start and can often be stained in as little as 7 to 14 days.
Look for a stamp on the wood that says “KDAT” or “dry” on it. If you don’t see one? Assume it’s the sopping wet variety and plan your patience accordingly.
And no, you cannot speed it up with a hairdryer. I tried. It ends with a cracked board and a stern look from your neighbor.
