Don’t forget the UK itself! City Airport is amazing for a quick getaway to Edinburgh (castle, whiskey, bagpipes—yes, please). Glasgow is also served, and for a while, you could fly to Inverness (Loch Ness monster territory). There’s Isle of Man too—perfect for a race weekend or confusing your friends with a stamp from a tax haven.

And yes, Belfast City Airport is on the list. It’s a great way to feel like you’re adventuring in a different country without the jet lag. Plus, you can get there in about an hour. That’s less time than it takes to watch a Marvel movie.
But Wait, There’s Actually a Catch (Sort of)
Okay, I’ll be honest with you—City Airport has a short runway. That means planes need to be sporty. You won’t find a 747 here; it’s all slim, sleek jets like the Embraer and the Airbus A220. And because it’s in a residential area, pilots have to do a steep approach. Landing feels like you’re on a rollercoaster that forgot to buy a ticket—it’s a thrill.
Also, the luggage allowance is sometimes tighter than your jeans after Thanksgiving. But honestly, who needs a full suitcase when you’re just popping to Zurich for a chocolate binge?
