So, you’ve puked, you’re exhausted, and now you’re hungover. Why do you still feel like garbage? Because vomiting didn’t remove all the alcohol. You only got rid of what was in your stomach—maybe 20% of the total booze you drank. The rest is still partying in your bloodstream.
Also, you lost fluids and electrolytes. You’re dehydrated, your blood sugar is low, and your liver is crying. The vomit was just the opening act. The main event is the headache and shame.
But hey, here’s a silver lining: that violent purge actually does help a little. It stops more alcohol from entering your system. So in a weird way, your body wins the battle, even if you lose the war (and your dignity).
How to Stop the Cycle?
You can’t outrun biology. If you drink too fast, you’ll puke. Period. The only cheat code is to eat a big meal beforehand. Carbs and fats slow alcohol absorption. Or, drink water between boozy beverages. Or, and this is radical, stop drinking when you feel the spins.
But if you’re reading this while hugging a toilet, I’m guessing it’s too late. So just accept your fate. Your body isn’t betraying you—it’s bailing you out. Give it a few hours, drink some Gatorade, and swear you’ll “never drink again.” We both know that’s a lie.
Until next time, cheers. Or, you know, ugghh.
