Twist the lid counterclockwise. It should pop off with a satisfying click. Now you’ll see the old filter sitting there like a grumpy mushroom. Don’t pull it straight up. I learned this the hard way. You have to twist it slightly while pulling. It’s like opening a stubborn pickle jar, but with less brine.
Once it’s out, discard it immediately. If you leave it lying around, it will drip on your floor, and you’ll step in a cold puddle at 2 a.m. Not fun. Give it a proper burial in the trash bin. The old filter has served its time. Honor its sacrifice.
