This is the grossest part. Lift that drip tray. Look. What you see is a nursery of bacteria. Mold, yeast, and things science hasn’t named yet.
Soak it in hot, soapy water for ten minutes. Scrub the grid with an old toothbrush. Rinse until it’s clean enough to lick. Don’t actually lick it.
Why do we care? Because every splash of water hits this tray. Then you put your cup there. Gross doesn’t even begin to describe it.
